I have always struggled to understand the border and to understand a place that stops the path as a sign that starts the misplaced in which I arrive as an UFO I identify myself but I am not convinced…I do not want but I have to…and I only want to go further and follow my foot after that other because this is why a land exists…to go where we have to…to go right where you do not have to but you hope that the place is right that it is the place to stay to slow down to stop and maybe later to leave because I have always struggled to understand the boundary and that’s when I look at an infinite line that connects the extremes a managed line that drowns and holds the glance of the one who does not link those who pale are blissful in the possession of benches or shoals and that leave the benches of fish to count the infinite line and ended up in the water and even when a line segment re-emerges to get going again there is still a border to meet and then for this I struggle and still struggle to understand a border…

The project of the artist Giovanni Morbin developed between May and September 2014 and provided, thanks to the collaboration with the actor Modou Gueye, the involvement of the Milanese artistic and theatrical community sensitive to the theme of immigration / emigration, social integration and the legitimacy of the “immigrant” as a political, free and influential subject. The clothes worn during the show / performance were designed thanks to a workshop at the Fabbrica del Vapore, the result of the collaboration with the fashion designer Giovanni Donadini (Canedicoda), author of the development of the prototypes, made with the fabrics made available by Bonotto SpA. Each dress is packaged translating the immigration history of the performers themselves. The performance consisted of the parade of thirteen performers of different national and cultural backgrounds, immigrants belonging to the communities present in the Milan area, who crossed the Italy-Switzerland border near the Gondo customs (Simplon pass). An ideal catwalk, silently bordering between Italy and Switzerland, able to give the possibility to cross the border legally, legitimizing what is normally not allowed nor much less facilitated.
